Pasta Perfection: Quick-feast Ideas

Is there anything more delicious and comforting than a freshly cooked pasta dish? We would argue, no. And after a strenuous work-out, for example a long run, your body actually needs complex carbohydrates in order to be effective at repairing itself. Also, pasta dishes needn't be all that bad for you either!

Have a little look at these tasty morsels and I defy your mouth not to water...

Pasta Pesto

An Italian classic; simple and oh so effective. Opt for a vegan pesto as a healthier alternative and with olive oil, pine nuts, basil and garlic as main ingredients it's chock full of 'good' fats and antioxidants. Buon appetito!

Cheesy pasta tubes with veg

So, basically a fancy macaroni cheese. Yeah, we'll take that! Just cook up the pasta (remember to always rinse thoroughly with boiling water) then mix in a cheesy sauce, and add extra cheese for good measure! Oh, and some vegetables, we almost forgot.

Tagliatelle

Aside from being quite delicious, do you not just love how Italian this sounds? It's the texture of these chunky pasta strips that really makes the dish, so keep it simple with just some fresh tomato, basil leaves, a drizzle of olive oil and some parmesan shavings. Perfecto!

Spaghetti Bolognese

Or, Spag Bol to you and I. This is quite simply one of God's gifts to comfort cuisine. A firm family favourite and fast to prepare, this can even be made vegan by swapping the meat for a quorn mince.

Tortellini

These little parcels of joy can contain anything you wish. A personal favourite is spinach and ricotta, although meat varieties are very popular. With all the flavour on the inside, not much is required to serve. Maybe a light tomatoey sauce, or a salad garnish perhaps.
