"And if I asked you to name all the things you love, how long would it take for you to name yourself"
As the saying goes, the most important relationship that you'll ever have is the one that you have with yourself. Of course, all of the relationships that you form are reliant on our ability to be secure, confident and happy in our own skin. Our career success is also directly related to the sense of belief that we have in ourselves, pushing us to perform to the best of our abilities. So without further ado, here are three key ways in which you can practice that critical self-care.
Let go of unhealthy habits
Whether it's sleeping in late, consuming far too many biscuits with your tea, or neglecting coffee dates with friends, you need to make a conscious effort to eliminate daily habits which, in the long term, will be detrimental to our health and life.
Take control of your time
We only have one life and so it's important that we make it count. This is where prioritisation comes in. Whatever your dreams are, and whoever you love the most, create space in your schedule for the things that matter to you to avoid regrets.
Let go of toxic people
It's a trick of the mind that, once we've invested time and energy into a friendship or a relationship, we do not want to let our friendships/relationships go, even if they're not good for us. Being self-aware, though, means understanding the root of your hesitation, and moving past it. The longer you spend around people that do not appreciate you, the more your self-worth will decline.
