Atmo tried Lush's new Shampoo and Conditioner Bars and this is what we thought

The thought of a plastic free life is a wonderful yet difficult one; the stuff is everywhere. But taking the first steps to ditching plastic is easier than you think.

We stepped back from our usual routine and tried out Lush's solid shampoo and conditioner bars, all plastic free.

The 'Seanik Shampoo Bar' (£6.50) is ocean blue and feels just as refreshing on your hair. Simply rub the bar in your hands like a soap, and then rub your hands into your hair. Surprisingly, the little bar gives off a lot of lather without much effort, so you know it's going to last.

They smell great and almost look good enough to eat!

Lush sell small tins to keep your solid shampoo bars in, and after using them we'd recommend opting for a tin at the checkout too. After use, simply pop the bar into the tin and let it dry a little before putting the lid on (to avoid soggy contents).

The tins are just £2.50 and can be reused again and again!

For conditioner, we tried the 'Big Solid Conditioner Bar' because of it's coconut scent and larger size. As great as the scent and feel is, we found that you need to use a lot of it to condition your hair. Getting through a few bars is still completely plastic free, but not so kind on your wallet at £6.75 a bar.

We suggest conditioning with the bar at each wash, as well as a deeper condition once a week.

After trying the 'New' hair mask (£6.50) we would highly recommend using one of these warm hair treatments. There are a variety of different masks to choose from depending on your hair type and the recommend use is only every 3-6 weeks. Just mix with hot water, apply and relax!

With summer holidays on the horizon, the solid shampoo and conditioner bars are perfect for travel. Thanks to the mess free tins, there's no need to worry about liquids in your hand luggage or leaking bottles in your backpack.

If, like us, you're looking for ways to reduce plastic in your life, we can definitely recommend these solid shampoos and conditioners.
